The technique is the same as with the little monsters: two small pinch pot hemispheres joined together with slip; eyes, beaks, and wings attached when the bodies have dried about a day under plastic; bodies and wings carved with a variety of ribbon tools at a leather hard stage.
I made a couple of holes on top and on the back of each bird. You can do it either with a tootpick or a needle/pin tool, just make sure to widen the holes so after the firing they stay large enough to fit feathers.
